Not only is Stop one of the few really useful conditional spells, but you can start using it without having to save up any AP! Even better, you're not wasting any materia slots since summon spells are useful in and of themselves!
Later in the game, Hades makes an even better choice, since that nasty fellow can stick enemies with any of his seven nasty conditions, and is a capable summon spell himself. No doubt about it- These Red Data Animals are capable of making even lame blue linkers like Added Effect work for you!
This linking materia is only viable when linked with materia capable of doing massive damage for little MP. Alexander works best, since he does an obscene amount of damage and can be gained relatively early on.
Use him against groups of three or more, and all the overkill damage he dishes out will ensure that you end up making back more MP than it took to cast him!
In areas where enemies tend to travel in large groups, you can use hem every single turn, making areas like Ice Gate a breeze!
You'll be recharged in no time! If you are attacked, you will counter with a Deathblow, and then counter again for each maxed out Counter Attack you have equipped. The rest is just to fill up your HP and MP. Also, if you have more than two Deathblows equipped you'll almost never miss with it. If Comet is mastered you can steal from multiple enemies and cause a good amount of damage while you're at it.
It makes an enemy both Confused and Berserk. Pretty useful, if I do say so myself. It's pretty useful because the Materia needed don't have to be linked, and gives you a character with high HP who's likely to be hit and will counter every time he is. Plus, since he's in the back row he won't take as much damage.
This comes from Philip Thebeau. It's not the best combo out there, but it works. Every time you are attacked, you will cast Cure on yourself.
If you know Regen or Cure 3, this can be quite effective. This also saves you the turn you would've spent healing your character, so you can concentrate on offense.

It is best paired with Magic Materia that provide the smallest detriment to Strength possible. Using the Materia on Cloud or Yuffie can good as they have both a high Strength and Magic , making them useful at either ability.
Nonetheless, using Added Effect on physical attackers is potent, as though the chance is lower than using the Materia to cast a spell, it will not consume MP , and a turn is never wasted as the damage is still done. Later in the game, the player can obtain Ribbons on all party members making pairing Added Effect on armor redundant.
Though larger enemies later on tend to resist status effects, not too many resist Slow , making Time Materia a consistently good pairing with it.

The incredibly useful item can found at the Whirlwind Maze so there's only one opportunity to get it as the story progresses. This combination will come in very handy with high-level bosses that can inflict a lot of damage. Unfortunately, the biggest drawback of using Quadra is that with every successive attack the damage is cut in half unless the MP Turbo materia is equipped.
The Quadra can't be combined with the Knights of the Round, but it can be combined with Bahamut Zero, the dragon's most powerful form and arguably the second most powerful summon in the game. The summon spell is capable of destroying most enemies with a single casting.
