To start, apply a dime-sized amount of straightening product to your hair, which will protect it and keep it moisturized. Turn your flat iron on to the highest heat setting your hair can handle. For example, pick for fine or damaged hair, for medium hair, and for thick or coarse hair. Put the top half of your hair up into a temporary ponytail or bun so you can focus on the bottom layer first. Finally, set your hair with a finishing serum or spray to keep it smooth. Wet your hair with warm water, lather up, and rinse with warm water. Avoid shampoos with alcohols and sulfates since those tend to dry out hair and create frizz.

Method 4. I have died my hair before at least 4 times 3 times by myself.
My first time going to the salon to dye my hair light brown blonde my hair was orange! I tried to make myself like it because I was afraid to continue to dye my hair. My Hair felt straw like I hated attempting to curl my hair. Long story short I let my hair grow out and continued trying to maintain my hair. I was slowly getting my curls back but I hated the orange hair and wanted to go blonde. My hair was ok and a little healthy for a few months but my curls started to loosen up more and become more of a 2c hair I thought getting cuts and trims would help get the blonde out and give me my curls back I was wrong.
Every time I continued to cut my hair short and put layers into it , my hair became less curly and flat, my last cut was the end of February and I. Absolute hate it. The blonde is showing way less but layers on my hair now make my hair feel super thin and just sucks the life out my hair instead of making it more voluminous.
It becomes really curly on the ends but flat on top. I always end up putting it up cause I hate how thin it feels and looks. Thanks for commenting Essie and I feel your frustration. I colour my hair and probably always will!

Our hair changes every years so it may just be another phase for your hair. I would keep trying treatments and give yourself head massages and hopefully the curls will come back. Also check if anything else has changed that could affect your hair such as diet or medication xx.
When I was younger I had frizzy curly hair and when I was in middle school I started straightening it obsessively. Once I stopped abusing it with heat it grew out pretty quick and my curls even started to make an appearance again, however when I started my senior year I colored my hair a lot and as a result I had to cut my once waist length hair to my shoulders. I usually only wash my hair once a week and keep it in braids while I sleep. I also keep it down as much as possible. My question is what else can I do I try and grow my hair out and bring back my curls without cutting it all off?

Changes in your hormones can alter your hair completely — making curly hair straighter and straight hair, curlier. The following are some hormones that may be responsible for your curly hair suddenly going straight:. These are hormones produced by your thyroid gland. According to a study published in the journal, Dermato Endocrinology , researchers have observed that changes in hair texture and volume are commonly linked to hormonal imbalances from thyroid abnormalities, such as hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.
According to the study, individuals with hypothyroidism may experience slow growing, dry and brittle hair. People with hyperthyroidism may notice that their hair is oilier, thinner and more brittle. Androgens are male sex hormones that are responsible for the maintenance and development of male characteristics.
Androgens increase in both boys and girls during their puberty. These hormones can increase body hair in both males and females, and cause balding in males. High levels of androgens in women may change the shape of their hair follicle.
This may result in changes in hair texture from straight to curly and curly to straight. Insulin is a hormone produced in the body to regulate blood sugar levels. However, a study published in the European Journal of Preventative Cardiology finds that insulin resistance may be significantly associated with androgenic alopecia or severe hair loss. Both can result in changes in hair texture as hair grows back. We all know that hair turns gray with age.
However, did you know that it may also undergo a plethora of subtle changes that may lead to one giant change? Keep reading to find out what may have caused your hair to become straight, according to your age.
Your hair starts as tiny bulb-like hair follicles. Believe it or not, all of us are born with the same number of hair follicles on our scalp, around , This means that the bushy-haired child of your friends has the same number of follicles as any fine haired child.
However, note that the number of hair follicles in your scalp never changes. The type of hair produced does differ, according to the effects of hormones, diet, and aging.
Hair is made of a protein called keratin, which gives your hair strength and structure. During your teens, the rush of hormones that accompany puberty causes the hair to grow faster and thicker than any other time.
However, hormonal changes during puberty also trigger your sebaceous glands to produce more sebum, creating that greasy, dull hair that many teenagers suffer from.
During this stage, children with lighter hair may experience darkening of their hair. This results from hormones stimulating the melanocyte cells in hair follicles. Melanocytes insert more colored pigment called melanin in every strand, causing hair that is darker. At this age, children and teens may benefit from using shampoos designed for oily hair. During your early 20s, your hair is fuller and more lustrous than ever before.
However, a few things can change this. Heavy periods and strict diets cause a depletion of B vitamins, which are vital for healthy hair growth. Also, lack of iron in the diet can significantly slow hair growth and cause hair to look thinner and flatter. Also, excess sun exposure can damage your hair, especially during your 20s. Your hair has 18 different amino acids, and about five of them are sensitive to UV light from the sun.
Instead of causing the water to evaporate, it leaves moisture behind in your hair which is the best thing that can happen. It also cuts down on how long it takes to dry your hair. Ionic hair dryers will leave your hair in a smoother, shinier and better condition which is ideal if you want to style your hair straight making it the best investment you can make for your hair.
You should always use the nozzle to aim at sections of your hair. A large round brush will help you smooth your hair and make it full of shine. Another important tip for making wavy hair straight naturally is to use cold air blasts from your new high-quality hairdryer. That cold-blast button will be your new BFF now! Simply let your hair air dry almost fully. Then divide your hair up into sections like you would for any blowout.
Instead of using heat though, use the cool setting and move your blow dryer along your hair from the roots to the tips. Not going anywhere for a while? You can use large hair rollers to get that straight look. If you take them out before your hair dries, your waves or curls will return.
To do this, section off hair straight out from your head, comb it with a wide-toothed comb and then secure it with a roller. Roll that roller all the way to your scalp. You can speed things along with a hairdryer while you have your hair in the rollers, or you can let it air dry. But if you do use your hairdryer, make sure you use a low setting or cool air to keep from damaging your hair. This is great if you still want to have a bit of those enviable waves without the frizz and mess.
For this technique, put damp hair into medium-sized sections, roll them up and go to bed. Or do it at least 4 hours before your big date night. Hottie comes to pick you up for that hot date.
If your hair is lengthy enough, say at least to your shoulders, you can wash it, condition it, and then add your leave-in straightening conditioner. Then, wrap your hair tightly around your head. This has been around for quite some time, as in before the hairdryer was invented.
Simply take your wet hair and comb it. You want to divide it right down the middle. Keep it in place with bobby pins. Do the same thing in the opposite direction with the right side. Then, patiently wait for it to air dry. Wrapping it in a silken scarf and going to sleep will also keep frizz from arising. Once your hair is fully dry, you can take the pins out, brush your hair, and enjoy the straightness.
