Again with a season pass, we could go for an hour or two and not feel like we wasted any money.

This was truely a pain- because having small children they want to snack all day You can bring your own water. It was bad in the lazy river- they would run into you playing tag with their friends- splash you- scream around you- and some would "make out" in the water. I'm ok with rowdy teens but not in such large quantities- constantly be disrespectful. I couldnt take my young boys in the womens bathroom- I actually had a woman employee come and tell me to have them wait outside for me.

I am a freak about ever leaving my kids alone- something could happen in a split second. I was pretty upset about that situation I just dont rinse off anymore, take super quick potty trips and stand outside the mens bathroom like a freak mom when they have to go.

All in all- I dont know if we will buy a season pass next year- I think we will try schliterbahn once and stick with our community pool. Discriminatingmom Houston, Texas 3 contributions.

Houston area--Splashtown or Schitterbahn? I'd pick Schlitterbahn Galveston! I am in Houston and was trying to decide between Splashtown or Schitterbahn to take my son and his friends. After seeing ticket prices, I opted for Splashtown, but can now tell you that it was a mistake. It is a much smaller park than the Galveston Schlitterbahn and the crowd was overweight and heavily tattooed, though that may be a given at all waterparks!

Also, as we arrived at almost 12 noon, we were told by a lifeguard NOT the people at the admission gates that the electricity had been off all morning and that many rides were not yet operating. They did eventually reopen--no refund was offered. The Splashtown wavepool was lackluster as was the lazy river.

If you are looking for a 3 hour quick experience for younger kids 10 and under, Splashtown is fine. If you want to spend the day I'd head to Galveston. I really don't like to give negative reviews, but I feel like I would be doing fellow Trip Advisor viewers a disservice if I didn't pass on my experiences at this place. I purchased the family season pass package as a friend convinced me that they have made "huge improvements".

My review is based on several visits this summer, and not just catching the facility on an "off" day. Continue reading if you dare The restroom: usually nasty, although there is an attendant from time-to-time sweeping misc. I have never seen her actually cleaning the toilets or wiping down anything. The receptacles inside the stalls for feminine hygiene products are usually full to the brim and do not have lids, which is disgusting and unsightly not to mention unsanitary.

On one visit, we were going to shower and put dry clothes on so we could grab dinner on our way home. The shower facility was deplorable. Used, I mean wet and poopy, baby diapers left open-faced on the floor. USED feminine hygiene products I apologize for the bad visual left on the changing bench.

Totally unsanitary and disgusting. We couldn't have showered if we wanted to as there were a couple of ladies with about 10 small children I'm not exaggerating that occupied the 4 shower stalls. I'm wondering what their definition of "proper" is. People are swimming in their street clothes. I'm talking their shoes, their socks, jeans, underwear, bras, etc. Yes, people are in the water with their street clothes on as though they just pulled off the interstate on a whim and decided to go to SplashTown.

Babies and young toddlers you know are not potty trained in the water without a proper swim diaper or, even worse, a REGULAR disposable diaper. You know what happens to regular diapers when they are soaked Standing in a long line for one of the new attractions, "The Big Kahuna", the wet stairs reeked of urine. Guess I should be glad someone peed their pants instead of the pool?
