Where is kalkan

This charming little resort thrives on visitors from all over Europe, but retains its eclectic mix of bustling backstreets and waterfront dining with only the lightest dusting of neon.

The old town forms the focal point, but this is a place that seems to have lazily spread its wings stretching along the pretty coastline dotted with upscale beach clubs and quiet swimming spots. Ann: Arriving in Kalkan you immediately feel you have arrived in a very special town with its warren of restaurants and shops leading down to the lively harbour. There are some spectacular rooftop terraces with incredible views over the bay, so you can enjoy the very best of Turkish dining with views to match.

Ann: Finding where to eat is a true pleasure with a third of the restaurants being roof top giving wonderful views of the harbour and Kalkan bay plus people watching. We love to eat in Kucuk Ev Small House a family run restaurant with only eight tables and a prized balcony table. Boat and Gullet Trips Kalkan, Turkey. Kalkan Dive Centre.

Aqua Water Sports. Cafe Vita. All Places. Kalkan Properties. Fully furnished and very spacious four bed villa situated off the Kalamar Road.

Narrow streets twist down to the harbour, lined with old whitewashed villas with shuttered windows situated alongside small local specialty shops and restaurants in historic buildings.

Overhead hang original carved Ottoman Greek timber balconies garlanded with thick masses of brilliantly coloured bougainvillea cascading to the streets below. It is a very special place with a unique atmosphere. Because of this, Kalkan has retained the texture of its history by protecting its distinctive Ottoman Greek architecture it was once an Ottoman Greek and Turkish fishing village.

Good dining has always been the way of life in Kalkan and continues today. In fact, Kalkan is said to have the highest number of restaurants and bars per inhabitant or square meter on the Turkish coast over of them!
