Use a phone to call someone you haven't spoken to in a while. Catch up with them and let them know you care. You could even share with them some of the things you learned from today's Wonder of the Day!
Sit down and have a discussion about phones with an adult friend or family member. You might be surprised to learn about how many different types of phones they've used over the years.
Do they remember ever using an old rotary dial phone? Do they have any pictures of old phones they used to own? If not, jump online and look up pictures of old phones. Which ones do they remember using? How do they compare to today's phones? Have fun on your trip down memory lane! Ready for a field trip! Ask an adult friend or family member to take you on a field trip to a local electronics store. Ask a salesperson to show you the range of phones available for sale.
Do they still sell corded or cordless land line phones? How do those phones compare to the latest and greatest smartphones available? Request a demonstration of the newest smartphone features.
Talk with the salesperson about what changes they expect to see in phones in the future. Will they get bigger or smaller? What new features might they have? What features would you like to see in the next mobile phone? Did you get it? Test your knowledge. Touch screens have existed since the days of PDAs, usually used in tandem with a stylus.
Following that, resistive touch screens emerged. These touch screens were constructed of layers of conductive material separated from each other. When the user puts pressure on the surface of the screen, either with a stylus or finger, the layers would touch and complete a circuit, sensing the location of the touch. Capacitive touch screens use the conductivity of the touching object -- a finger, usually -- to register touch. Smartphones use capacitive touch screens to make touch interaction comfortable and natural.
Smartphones also contain the ability to locate the user via GPS technology. This is what keeps all of the smartphones in the world up-to-date. The operating system manages all of your phones hardware and software. For example, all Samsung Phones run on Android. The operating system allows for your phone to run multiple application at one time. It also allows you to download all of the applications that you want and produce them as well. The smartphone is a multipurpose device because of the OS.
It allows a user to be able to watch a video, receive a call, and then return you back to the video after the call ends. It is also the reason why you are able to synchronize all of your information with outside devices.
